Public education is critical to the future of an individual, family and community. Having just come through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression the Orange County School Board worked tirelessly to find internal efficiences and staffing reorganizations to reduce costs.
I have provided a few examples from the transportation and facilities departments. We have reduced our overall budget by a $100 million since 2007 as state revenues have plummeted. In spite of the economic challenges, Orange County Public Schools has maintained its ”A ” rating.
You can track school grades from 2004 through 2010. (I will post the 2011 results as they become available.)
You can also see the PowerPoint presentation from the 2011 State of the Schools address.
I believe we should use strategic planning and outside audits to reduce costs.
